💛 Black Lives Matter and The Big Picture
       Saturday 13th June 2020

I have not written in three weeks. Not since the spring flower tribute to my Aunty Joy Posted two days before George Floyd was killed while in police custody. Not because I have nothing to say. But because I have been feeling all of it. Staying with the helplessness, frustration, and powerlessness felt by all who are arising in protest. Privately or publicly matters not. Feeling horror at the brutality they have at times been met with. And feeling equally the compassion at times shown by police and protesters alike. Allowing the anger and impotent rage that arises from speaking quietly and peacefully yet not being heard. Of treading lightly and respectfully only to be mown down. I have shed oceans of tears. Re-experiencing the many painful moments in my own life. Lived in four countries. A member of the ‘majority’ in none. And noticing all the new moments of the same.

It's like I've suddenly grown these hyper-sensitive antennae that unfailingly pick up the slightest BS. The tiniest of ‘gaffes’ that indicate a deeper obliviousness to the precious uniqueness of every single human being. And the sacred respect and equality due each simply because they live. When I am labeled ‘white privileged’ or asked “Who do you think you are?” or included in an email calling to ‘white mamas’. Moments when I am reminded, subtly or otherwise, that “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” as in George Orwell's ‘Animal Farm’. Trust me. I have been closely examining my own crap💩 All the places where I've colluded, allowed the ab-use, or been complicit. It is humbling. In no way do I presume to know the experience of Black Americans. But I have been speaking up and sharing resources in almost every interaction. In-person, on the phone, via email, and in Zoom meetings.

If you do nothing else, educate yourself by watching this 2016 documentary ‘13TH’
“Combining archival footage with testimony from activists and scholars, director Ava DuVernay's examination of the U.S. prison system looks at how the country's history of racial inequality drives the high rate of incarceration in America This piercing, Oscar-nominated film won Best Documentary at the Emmys, the BAFTAs and the NAACP Image Awards.”
It's on YouTube. 13TH

And for more, read this daily blog by Heather Cox Richardson, political historian and professor at Boston College. It is clear and concise with links to all source material. And keeps a neutral tone describing what is happening today and referencing historical precedent.
Letters from an American

Yes I've been disturbing the status quo. Saying the thing no one else is willing to say. Not attacking. But simply standing tall in what I know to be true. Hah! What's new? some might ask! What's new is that I trust myself. Implicitly. I know and hold myself tenderly as both the Jewel💎 and the Net🕸 Precisely as I know and hold each and every other Jewel in my life and around the world. Each day these past three weeks, looking clear-eyed and unafraid at all that is happening, staying educated. While simultaneously dwelling in the infinite embrace of Love and Light as a Divine Human BEing. Both/And! Remembering for everyone until all can re-member themselves.

The sweetest moments have been with my oh-so-aware granddaughters, the 7-yr-old even joining a Black Lives Matter street protest with her Mama, and speaking on racism to her entire school. And the noisiest have been at home — productively so — just ask Colin and all my family! And my friends, my neighbors, my colleagues, and all my weekly Zoom groups — from my girlfriends of 40 years, to my CoCreators and town political Civil Discourse groups. I feel no desire to participate widely on social media. For me it's not about numbers, ideology or disembodied intellectual discussions. It's about meaningful experiences lived in relationship in the present. And knowing that no matter how enlightened we think we are — non-rascist, non-sexist, non-ageist, non-heirarchist etc. — it is in the living each day that we are shown to ourselves. Whatever is lurking within will show up in the quantum now. Willingly invite it, pay close attention and you'll see. 💛Pause ❤️Breathe 🧡Listen In 💚Feel 💙Accept Your Feelings 💜Trust YourSelf 💖Take Action💛 And perhaps we will engage too precious Jewel💎🕸💎one-on-one. And this morning the gift of this shimmering blog landed in my heart from Sharon Lyn Shepard, Divine Musings. Along with getting educated on historical antecedents, and remaining unflinchingly present to today's unfolding traumas, it is this big picture context that gives me great comfort, hope for the future, and keeps me keeping on. I share it with love to all🌺

“So many of us are feeling the desolation of social distancing. How often have you seen a friend across the store, rushed over to give them a hug, and were stopped in your tracks...? How often do you yearn to hug an aging parent, or your grandchildren? These are things we have always taken for granted... The effect of this physical separation has many shrouded emotions rising to the surface, feelings from long long ago, threading all the way back to the origin of time. We are experiencing this separation personally while being distanced from our families and friends. We are experiencing gender separation via the inequality of masculine vs feminine. We are experiencing it collectively as racism is exploding to the surface, human against human. And on the deepest level, we are experiencing the original separation from God. This is the Primordial Wound of Separation.”
“By transcending the illusions of separation and duality, we walk in harmony on the sacred path of peace, love, and joy.” — Black Madonna

The Primordial Wound of Separation

💛 Both Levels of Experience

“Coming to know is not an aspect of the mind alone. It is not an aspect of the spirit alone. Coming to know is a quality of inner sight, of wholehearted human experience combined with spiritual experience. You are and always have been both human and spirit, both form and content. Now you contain within you the ability to combine both levels of being through the experience of life... You quite literally have a new way of seeing... The two levels of experience which you have been participating in are the joint cornerstones for the biggest revelations yet. All that is now seen as dualistic in nature can be experienced as different levels of experience of one whole... Opposites exist only as different aspects of one whole. Different aspects exist only as different levels of experience. To be able to hold onto, apprehend, and carry with you the ability to experience both levels of experience, the internal and the external, the form and the content, the human and the divine, is to elevate the self of form, or, in other words, to be what you have always been: Whole.” — A Course of Love, D:Day27.6-10
